Gerald Mollen - Resume
Three Decades of Public Service to the People of Broome County…
Following his appointment in 1980 as Assistant DA by District Attorney Pat Monserrate, a Republican, 28-year-old Jerry Mollen quickly gained the trust and confidence of his superiors.
In 1981 District Attorney Pat Mathews, also a Republican, promoted Jerry to Senior Assistant DA, and to Chief Assistant DA in 1982.
In 1987 Mathews became a County Court Judge and handed over the Acting DA’s reins to his hard-working Chief Assistant. Mollen was officially appointed Mathews’ successor by Governor Cuomo, making Jerry one of the youngest DAs to serve in New York State at that time.
Later that year Jerry made history in his own right when he faced the voters in the general election. He won in a landslide, the first Democrat in more than half a century to be elected Broome County District Attorney.
